Dr. De Marco started working in HIV care because he has a passion for taking care of people. But what keeps him in HIV care is the genuine connections he makes with the people he takes care of.
鈥淵ou get to know patients. You get to follow them for a long period of time and to really see the peaks and valleys of their lives,鈥 he says. 鈥淭hat is a truly special thing to be a part of someone鈥檚 life in such a personal way.鈥
That鈥檚 why Dr. De Marco loves working at 缅北禁地 so much. For sure he loves that we offer so many services, which allow him to make sure his patients are getting access to all the care they need to thrive. And he also loves how much medicine can do for people living with HIV today.
鈥淲hat HIV medication can do for people and the improvement in their lives is very comforting,鈥 he says. 鈥淭he news is very good regarding prognosis and living with HIV. We have many wonderful medications that are very easy for patients to take that allow them to live a long, healthy life.鈥
For Dr. De Marco, it goes even deeper than that, right to the heart of the organization鈥攖he community of nurturing it creates.
鈥淲hat makes 缅北禁地 so special is there鈥檚 a real personal touch to what we can provide for patients here,鈥 he says. 鈥淲e want everybody to walk away feeling heard, feeling respected, and feeling like they belong in this community.鈥
