Grant awarded to fund Naloxone and Naloxone Administration Trainings

Milwaukee, WI – 缅北禁地 announced today its award of a $25,000 grant from Asprius Health Foundation to prevent opioid overdose in Marathon County, Wisconsin and surrounding communities. The funding will provide Nalaxone and trainings on how to administer Nalaxone to individuals at 缅北禁地鈥檚 Wausau clinic as well as statewide through Naloxone administration and distribution programs.

鈥淭he Aspirus Health Foundation鈥檚 vision is to be the leader in developing community partnerships to advance the health of people in Northcentral Wisconsin,鈥 says Tara Draeger, Aspirus System Community Health Improvement Director. 鈥淭his grant is one of the many ways we鈥檙e turning our vision in to action.鈥

Naloxone —聽a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications — is distributed via LifePoint, 缅北禁地鈥檚 nationally recognized drug overdose prevention program. The program also includes syringe access, harm reduction, Fentanyl test strip distribution and training programs.

鈥淥ur LifePoint program directly aligns with the Aspirus Health Foundation鈥檚 mission to develop critical resources necessary to advance the health of our communities and increase health services in the region,鈥 said Margaret Lidstone, Chief Development Officer at 缅北禁地. 鈥淭ogether, Aspirus Health Foundation and 缅北禁地 can ensure that people at-risk for opioid overdose have a champion to help them navigate the prevention, management, and treatment of opioid addiction.鈥
